Balik-eskwela 2006- School Supplies Distribution : Handog ng Viganon-online

A total of 780 pupils from Grades I, II, and III in different baryo schools in Viga West District we're the lucky recipients of the school supplies distributed last June 5 and 6, the start of the school year.

List of Schools:

  • San Roque Elementary School
  • Del Pilar Primary School
  • Sta. Rosa Elementary School
  • P. Vera Elementary School
  • Sagrada Elementary School
  • Osmena Elementary School
  • Burgos Elementary School
  • Quezon Elementary School
  • Rizal Elementary School
  • Ananong Elementary School
  • Mabini Elementary School
  • Ogbong Elementary School
Pupils, Parents and Teachers expressed their gratitude to the donors and the organizers of the project.

Mahirap i-kwento lahat ng nangyari during the event pero I will try to share some moments. Pasensya na kung medyo magulo kasi hindi po talaga ako magaling magkwento.

Dito pa lang sa Manila is a test of patience. Nahirapan ako makipagusap sa cargo na magdadala ng mga kargamento pa-Viga. They told me that the shipment will take a minimum of a week before makarating ng Virac. Para lang ma-accommodate ng RSL yung 11 big boxes, sumakay kami sa ordinary bus just to push thru with the plan. When we arrived at Viga, we immediately pack the supplies with the help of neighboors and friends.

The first day was a real test if we are to pursue the distribution or not. The plan was to use a mini-truck for the first day. The call time was supposed to be 9am, but early morning I received a call that the truck will not make it.

(Problem no.1) Wala kaming service. So we opt to use tricycle and two motorcycles just to keep us moving as scheduled. We went as scheduled sa San Roque, Del Pilar and Sta. Rosa. We had our lunch sa banwa. After lunch came Mr. JunMariano to the rescue with a canter for our service. We headed to P. Vera, Sagrada, Osmena, Burgos. On our way to Burgos, (Problem no.2) pumutok ang gulong namin causing us some hours of delay.... Buti na lang at puro boy scout ang mga volunteers that they managed to change tire kahit puro mga walang alam sa auto...
We tried to go to Quezon but when we arrived there, wala na ang mga estudyante. So we decided to call it a day, anyway 7schools down means a good start. Mr. JunM cannot stay until the next day kaya ang (Problem no.3) inaalala naman namin ay ang gagamitin for the second day. So we went to the good mayor Abundo to ask some assistance, and he offered us his Revo service.

On the second day, Most of the volunteers are not feeling well, due to extreme heat and fatigue on Day1. And I was one of them. We decided to postponed the distribution and called JunM informing of our situation. But later that day, we regained our strength and push thru with the plan. ((problem no.4) Nasayumahan na si Mayor kaya mae na kami nagpaisi ta kasusupog.) Kaya, we look for a new transpo for our use, good enough that the mini truck na dapat gagamiton nung unang araw ay available. So nadagos din sa wakas! We first went to Quezon where we met with Mrs. Alice Angeles, a Division Supervisor visiting the school. Afterwards we headed to Rizal, Ananong (where we had our lunch), Mabini and last stop was Ogbong.

I personally, would like to thank the donors, from Saudi, USA, and Borneo, for your unending monetary support. (I opt not to disclose your names kasi yung iba would want to remain anonymous.)Had it not for your donations, this project will never be possible. God bless you and your family and may your blessings multiply.

The volunteers, special mention to my Batchmates of VRDHS 1999, family and friends for your assistance and time you spare from work just to help us with the job from the planning, surveys, purchasing, sorting, repacking, transportation and distribution of the supplies.
